Hi, I'm DaHae Delia, I'm committed to working with others for a greater goal: using thoughtful design to translate complex problems into engaging experiences.
Studio: The Mill Design Director: Eugene Gauran
The Mill LA teamed up with Saatchi & Saatchi and Smuggler to create something new and unexpected for this electric new Toyota 'Avalon' spot. Robert Sethi, Mill LA's creative director explains, "Lightning and electricity has a tendency to feel scary and dangerous.” For the spot, we needed it to feel beautiful and perceived as a powerful constructive force.
ROLE: Research and development. Animated lighting effects in After Effects. Designed and created images for print and oversized billboard advertisements.
PROCESS: Our team began by conducting dangerous electricity research that involved high voltage coils and plasma globes. The footage was recorded and referred to by the team to enable them to capture the subtleties of this powerful force of nature. Referring to the research and resources, I designed the print advertisements before the spot was finished. I also animated the 2D electricity in After Effects to add to the subtlety and realism of the electricity.

(Good) Morning App
Do you enjoy drinking coffee? I do. It’s not just part of my routine and ritual but moment of happiness and richness. Making this time count is important to me. I decided to design an app which would help users to discover new coffee and specifically personalize their needs in detail.
ROLE: (Prospect) User research. Interview. Concept. User experience design. Visual design. Art direction. Animation.
PROCESS: I set out to find out why and who comes to drink coffee at a coffee shop. What are they looking for and what are some important things that they look for in a coffee shop beyond quality coffee. I wanted to focus on designing an app which is focused on the importance of the coffee experience as a whole. With interviews and researching, I was able to make a list of specifications that people can filter through to find a personally tailored coffee experience around them. For the interface style, I followed Google’s material design guidelines.

Starbucks wanted to showcase their new product Starbucks Refreshers. It is a delicious and refreshing low calorie energy drink made with real fruit. Starbucks wanted especially to communicate with customers who live a active lifestyle. They wanted to convey how effortlessly they can be energized throughout their busy schedule and feel happy! I was assigned to visualize and design to convey these feelings.
ROLE: Concept designer, styleframe designer.
PROCESS: Since this is about a drink which is natural and energizing, I decided to make it more friendly by using bright, fruity, color palette in a painterly style. The hand painted style feels more personal, fun, and approachable.
In this commercial spot, the path our heroine starts to be painted with colors to show the life the drink gives. The movement of the animation is fun and energetic.

STUDIO: Motion Theory
Prevacid is a heart burn medication. They asked Motion Theory to come up with a 15 & 30 seconds video advertisement which tells a story of the lives of the people who experience relief from the medication. They wanted their brand to be styled in a way that is friendly and beautiful with balance and harmony.
ROLE: concept/style designer, photoshop (matte) painter for background, elements, and print.
THE PROCESS: In accordance with the fun, energetic and happy theme given by Prevacid, I designed and texturized these frames to be kid and family friendly. Each scene show people in their daily lives set in an ideal, even a magical setting. I imagined up the scenes with the almost realistic but saturated and bright color palette, the surrounding elements, and how the characters would be interacting with each other in each scene. I also worked closely with the 3D team to help with paint textures for their 3D character models.
Studio: Duck Producer: Dan Ridgers
Happy meal! McDonalds asked us to design a new campaign for their Happy Meal to go with their kid-friendly and healthy, meal. They wanted a fresh identity to go with their new health conscious meals for kids.
ROLE: Designer, Art Director, After Effects Animator, and Compositor.
PROCESS: Our team at Duck Studios collaborated with McDonalds to conceptualize and come up with the visual language of the new campaign. To engage with our young consumers, we put emphasis on telling a fun and humorous yet relatable story with each spot. We combined the storytelling with traditional animation, illustrative visual style, paired with texture and bold colors. Through out the life of the campaign, where we created multiple number of spots, I designed and animated the visual effects and 2d animation as needed for each spot tailored to fit the different Happy Meal toys. I also art directed, working closely with the traditional animators and 3D artists to ensure that our end product follow our strict visual guidelines and style. I was also in charge of compositing for the final deliveries. By the end of the campaign, I was intensely familiar with each of our fictional characters from the details of their backstory to their personality.

Soccer is one of the most popular sport in Germany. Nike gave us the task to create an animation for one of Germany’s superstar soccer player Mario Gotze.
ROLE: Since we wanted to highlight the power, strength, and importance of Mario Gotze, we made him the center of attention. We decided on a simple environment with dramatic lighting and fog. Our hero stands in this almost eery space fearless and confident. I animated the 2D elements and the typography in a glitchy style to fit the initial audio we were provided with. I helped with the final Photoshop painting of our hero and responsible for the final After Effects animation output.
